RE

In RE the children will be following the programme of study called Magister. They will learn the Creation Story, as well as learning how to care for Gods' world.

English

In English we will be focusing on stories by the same author and creative writing. For our creative writing we will be using two books: What the Ladybird Heard and a Squash and a Squeeze. We will also be looking at non chronological reports and sharing lots of non fiction books about animals. Alongside this we will also look at some poetry and of course always encourage the children to read for pleasure.

Mathematics 

In Mathematics we are going to be focusing on Place Value Within Ten. We will do this through group activities, small group sessions and individual activities. The children will be using concrete resources to help them the value of each number and it’s relation to other numbers.

Science

In Science the children will be learning about plants. We will be looking at different types of plants and trees, and the main function of each part of a plant. The children will enjoy exploring the plants within their immediate environment. 

Geography

In Geography we are going to be learning about our local area, Poulton. The children will learn about different types of settlements and use maps to find local landmarks. The will learn about a plan view and learn how to draw a basic map showing route. 

ICT

In ICT we are learning about the technology around us. The children will begin to learn the basic parts of a computer and how to use a mouse. 

Music

In Music the children are learning a new song called 'Hey You'.  They will learn how to identify the different instruments whilst listening to a piece of music and begin to find the beat in the song using different instruments.

PE

In PE we are focusing on key skills using the story Supertato! The children will be completing various activities that will help to strengthen their running, hopping, jumping, skipping and under arm throwing. We will also be developing our rolling skills. 

Art

In Art the children will begin to think about what it means to be an artist. They will experiment with different material and begin to look at the work of Kandinsky and Mondrain.
