RE

In RE, we are going to be learning about the Lenten Journey. We will follow Jesus' journey to being crucified on Good Friday, and his resurrection on Easter Sunday. We will understand that Jesus died on the cross for us and rose again because he is the Light of the World.

RHE

In RHE, we will be developing our knowledge about being safe. We will learn the difference between a good secret and a bad secret. We will also learn about harmful substances and who to trust when we need help.

English

In English, we are going to be focusing on stories with fantasy settings. We will look at the story 'No-Bot, The Robot with No Bottom' by Sue Hendra, and 'Robot Rumpus' by Sean Taylor. We will develop our descriptive writing techniques by using vocabulary to describe different robots. We will write creatively to add new pages to a story book using our imagination. Towards the end of this half term, we will also focus on instruction writing to produce a piece of instructions to support our Design and Technology lesson of making Easter Nest cakes.

Maths

In Maths, with Miss Appleyard, we will develop our understanding of addition and subtraction within 20. With Mrs Ronson, we will look at money and discuss different coins and their values, as well as begin to learn to tell the time. 

Science

In Science, we will continue to learn about our bodies. We will learn about how we can use our bodies for different activities. We will also develop our knowledge on the five senses by focusing on a different sense each week.

History

In History, we will look at Toys in the Past and Present. We will discuss a variety of toys that were played with by boys and girls in the Victorian era to the present day. We will look at the different materials toys are made from, and how they have developed throughout time. We will add some toys to Our History Journey. 

Art

In Art, we will explore different methods of printing. We will use a range of materials creatively to design and make new products, and develop a wide range of art and design techniques in using colour, pattern, texture and shape.

Music

In Music, our topic is ‘Round and Round’. Throughout the half term we will use our voices expressively and creatively by singing songs and speaking a variety of chants and rhymes. 

PE

In PE, with Miss Appleyard, we will develop our skills of underarm throwing. We will learn to demonstrate an underarm throw with accuracy, aiming at different targets. With Mrs Ronson, we will develop our Fundamental Movement Skills during a Tri-Golf module. We will learn how to master basic movements by participating in team games.
