The pupils in Class 6, on the whole, are developing into well-motivated, hardworking students. They are expected to exhibit the highest possible standards of behaviour and schoolwork. We will continue to encourage your children to develop personal organisational skills, self-discipline and a greater degree of independence.

In R.E. our topic is 'Jesus, the Messiah’. Children will continue to prepare their own collective worship as well as saying the more formal prayers. We will be celebrating Lent and Easter with appropriate liturgies, hymns and drama.

In English, the children will focus all their learning around one key text: Goodnight Mr Tom. The children will explore the book and use it as a stimulus for writing. The outcome will be a piece of writing in character.  

Our maths topics will be algebra; decimals; and perimeter, area and volume. The children will also be revising past topics to ensure that their knowledge is kept at the forefront of their minds.

In science, the children will learn about classification.

In computing, the children will complete a unit of work about spreadsheets. The children will learn how to format spreadsheets and use formulas. They will use this knowledge to plan an event.

In history, the children will learn about World War Two.

In design technology. the children will take part in a project: the BAE Funded Inspiring Lancashire 3D Printing Programme. Children will learn about 3D printers and will create a design which will result in a 3D print.

During P.E. lessons we will be focusing on cricket and orienteering. As the weather improves we will be using the outdoor area more so the children are encouraged to wear leggings or plain tracksuit bottoms.

In Latin, we will explore more vocabulary and grow in confidence when speaking a different language. Towards the end of the term, the children will begin working on performing a Latin play.
